It is well written and told in rhyming verse. The kids at Fun Educational Apps enjoyed the story and already read it several times! It allows us parents, to remind our kids what Christmas is all about. Gifts, food … might all be part of Christmas but we were delighted to see a Santa storybook app that features all the Christmas Spirit … the birth of Jesus, love, sharing and the gift of hope.
The whole storybook app gives a great feel, illustrations are top, narration is high quality and the Christmas musical background complement nicely the wonderful reading experience. Just make sure to listen to the original Christmas song at the end with credits roll.
All reading options are available via the setting menu. It is up to you. If you want to read to your kids simply turn the narration off or if you prefer to have it read to you and your kids, simply turn it on and enjoy this precious time with the kids. With the audio mode, kids can follow as the text highlight while read. (It highlights the line but not the words).
All options can be adjusted so make sure to choose all your settings before starting the story. Note that When Santa Got Sick offers a great reading experience but if you are looking for a Christmas book app with lots of interactive and pop up features ... you will not find them.
Overall, we just really liked When Santa Got Sick. It offers a heart-warming tale with a wonderful message, beautiful illustration, top narration … You guessed right it is moving to Fun Educational Apps Top favourite … a must have for the Christmas section of your digital library! … almost forgot to mention, the app also has an auto mode that might be handy during this very busy time of the year!
