Ponta da Piedade is a lighthouse in a prominent position on the southern corner of the bay of Lagos, Portugal. It is surrounded by bizarre rock formations and fascinating grottos. This bizarre scenery with cliffs of up to 20 metres is especially impressive from the seaside.

The arrival of autumn brings falling leaves; vibrant and rich jewel-toned colors across the landscape; a distinct change in temperature; festivals and some celebrations. The world often marks the September event as special. Throughout history, the first day of autumn has been considered a good time to take stock of the year's successes and failures.

In this stunning capture by Ireena Worthy we see a small fir tree (which has become a bonsai) growing atop a dead log in the waters of Fairy Lake, which is near Port Renfrew on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

Basque-ing In The Basque Country
Although Francisco Franco sought to oppress Spain's northern autonomous region known as the Basque Country throughout his quasi-fascist reign, no matter how successful he was at stultifying their culture and language he could never suppress the region's bewitching beauty. Rather fitting that the Northern Lights over Ireland are a brilliant emerald green.
Micronesia’s Blissful Blue Lagoon Beach
Taken in Tanzania, the Serengeti not only provides a home to a staggering amount of mammal and avifauna species but also gives its denizens some pretty spectacular sunsets to witness. Named after an Albertan princess, Canada's Lake Louise offers visitors emerald water carried into the lake by nearby glaciers.
The Magnificence Of The Milky Way
This exquisite photograph was taken in Colorado. Earth and the heavens finally meet. At a near-heavenly height of 14,409 feet, Washington state's Mount Rainier's sweeping shadow is enough to make those living nearby to think that nighttime has descended. Found in Iceland's eutrophic Myvatn lake, Pseutocrater Isle is a sight you should not miss.
Netherlands’ Technicolor Tulip Fields
Comprising one of Spain's Islas Baleares, Mallorca's natural beauty makes it a top holiday destination around the world. It's not a pattern for a shirt; it's a field of fragrant tulip flowers in the Netherlands. Millions of them. With a sweeping length of over 1,000 miles, the Snake River is as vast as it is stunning.

Sandy Gennrich - Seljalandsfoss is a beautiful waterfall, easily accessible off the Ring Road in Iceland. There are several views that are rewarding. Many people like the view from behind the falls, which looks interesting if you're there at sunset. We were here mid-day, so we chose to take a longer view that showed the length of the cliffs looking toward the Icelandic highlands.
Jeff Smallwood - Sunrise over Chesapeake Bay, taken from the pier at Flag Ponds Nature Park. Took this during an outing with the Calvert Photography Club. We were granted special access to the park before dawn. It normally isn't open that early and we were very appreciative of the ranger getting up early to let us in.
