Cork Airport is the Republic of Ireland's second busiest airport after Dublin and covers the south of the country, handling over 2.43 million passengers annually. The idea of an airport was first mooted in the late 1950's and by 1961 the new Cork Airport was open for business, and saw in excess of 10,000 customers, which it now caters for on a daily basis.
